I’m pretty excited about today’s post! I thought it would be fun to talk about one of my favorite parts of planning a wedding… bridesmaid dresses!

Choosing bridesmaid dresses can be quite tricky… you are not only working with different body types, but different skin tones and hair styles.  These all can interfere with the process of picking the right dress for your girls.  To throw some excitement into the mix, the mismatched bridesmaid dress is all the rage these days, which at times, can make things a little more tricky.  If you are into this trendy bridesmaid style, here are a few tips to make it a little easier for your special day!!!

1. What do you want to mix and match: Color or Style? You can have your bridesmaids wear the same color but different styles or wear different color and the same styles. Also, lets not forget the texture of the dresses. You can go for it all and mix and match all 3… color, style and texture!

2. What is your Color Scheme? If there is a specific color that surrounds your wedding, be sure to pick the bridesmaid dresses on that central color.  For example: pick various tones of that central color or you can pick different shades within that color family. I like to encourage my brides to go pick out paint chips for some inspiration.

3. Why Not Let The Bridesmaids pick out their dresses?  This may seem scary but, who knows their body better than themselves. You can outline the basics of what each girl needs to pick out their dress… such as; color, a specific brand, a certain fabric or texture, and of course length of the dress.  I find that this makes everyone happy that they got to have a say in the decision process of your big wedding day!

4. How Do You Tie It All Together For Your Wedding Day?  I found one of the best ways to tie the mix and match look together is to select a distinct element for each girl to wear, for instance, a certain necklace, a certain style shoe, or same color bouquet. By having one distinct or common item for each bridesmaid to wear makes the overall look more complete!
